It had the most high-profile rivalry in women’s college basketball over the past few years. UConn and Notre Dame squared off 15 times since Jan. 16, 2010, including in the NCAA national semifinals in each of the past three seasons.
With the Irish joining to the ACC this season, the series came to an abrupt halt. However, a Notre Dame source said tonight that it will again continue.
UConn and the Irish will begin a two-year deal next season in South Bend, Ind. This effectively puts an end to months of speculation whether or not these two teams would again play during the regular season.
UConn and Notre Dame are expected to meet in Connecticut during the 2015-16 season.
