Fresh off its NCAA record-setting ninth national championship, the UConn women’s basketball team has wasted little time in setting itself up for the future.
Napheesa Collier, a 6-foot-1 forward from St. Louis, Mo., has orally committed to play for the Huskies, according to her father, Gamal. Collier was one of four players that made an official visit to UConn this weekend.
Collier averaged 23.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.9 steals to lead Incarnate Word to a 31-1 record and a second straight Class 4 state championship this past season. She had had UConn, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri and Notre Dame on her list of schools before committing to UConn this morning.
Collier becomes the first player from the Class of 2015 to commit to the Huskies.
