The Huskies have already received oral commitments from Class of 2015 targets De’Janae Boykin, a 6-foot-3 forward from Springdale, Md., and Napheesa Collier, a 6-1 forward from St. Louis, Mo. Batouly Camara is another player that UConn has its an eye on in this class.
Camara, an athletic 6-2 forward from New York, NY, averaged 9.3 points and 12.1 rebounds to lead Blair Academy (N.J.) to a 19-3 record and a fourth straight NJISSA Prep A championship last season. She teamed with UConn incoming freshman Sadie Edwards with the Bucs.
“She’s extremely physical, vocal on and off the court and a tremendous competitor,’’ Blair Academy coach Quint Clarke said. “She posts up very well, but projects as a face-up 4 in college.’’
Camara, who is ranked No. 21 by HoopGurlz and will attend the USA Basketball U-18 National Team Trials with Collier in Colorado Springs, Colo. May 24-26, is a member of the Junior Class Council. Clarke said that she has scholarship offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Northwestern, Oklahoma and Virginia as well as other schools.
Camara has not yet scheduled any official visits.
