Ladies and gentlemen … some UConn practice video

by:

Ladies and gentlemen … for the first time on “My Two Cents” … VIDEO!!

Here are some links to YouTube for some video clips that I took at Thursday’s practice at the Arizona State University indoor practice bubble as UConn prepared for Saturday’s Fiesta Bowl game against Oklahoma. It’s not much, some kick return stuff, some receivers drills and some field goal practcie, but hey, it’s something. Enjoy.

Pictures from Edsall’s presser Friday

Happy New Year’s Eve!

Here are some photos from UConn head football coach Randy Edsall’s final pre-Fiesta Bowl press conference. The media got about a half-hour with the Huskies coach this morning to ask whatever questions that hadn’t asked over the past five days.

Fiesta Bowl media day … some photos

by:

Good morning from Scottsdale, Arizona!
I arrived just before midnight Tuesday, Mountain Standard Time, after 22 hours of travel from New York’s Kennedy airport, across the country to San Francisco, where I missed my connecting flight to Phoenix, waited six hours to catch the next flight and arrived at the media hotel at the witching hour. My CT Post cohort in Fiesta Bowl crime, Neill Ostrout, was already asleep. Lucky guy.
Anyway … The Huskies arrived at the hotel a little before 9 a.m. for their interviews with the media and a lot of the players spent the session (those not being interviewed) posing for pictures next to the Fiesta Bowl trophy, which was on display at the front of the conference room.
There are some pictures from the morning presser.

Pat Summitt praises UConn win streak

by:

While Tennessee’s Pat Summitt allegedly doesn’t like the way Geno Auriemma recruits, even she has to give credit where its due:
In Monday’s Knoxville News Sentinel, Lady Vols beat writer Dan Fleser had these quotes from Summitt after UConn beat Ohio State to tie the UCLA record of 88 wins in a row.
Here’s Fleser’s story …

Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt had high praise for Connecticut on Monday.
Connecticut beat Ohio State 81-50 on Sunday to tie the UCLA men’s 88-game win streak.
The Huskies will go for the record Tuesday night against Florida State.
“You’re talking about history; that’s just unbelievable what they’ve done,” Summitt said. “There’s going to be a lot more wins that will follow.
“I think Geno (Auriemma) and his coaching staff, you have to look at it and say this is something that’s unique and very, very impressive.
Summitt, one of only five women’s college basketball coaches with over 800 wins, referred to UConn as “a well-oiled machine.”
“That’s who they are,” she said. “That’s who they’ve been. That’s who they’ll keep being.”

No Pinstripe Bowl for Huskies

by:

There are several bowl games that the UConn Huskies can particpiate in this season. Of course, Randy Edsall’s crew would like nothing better than to capture the Big East Conference title outright with a win Saturday night against South Florida and clinch a BCS berth (either the Fiesta or Orange Bowls).

But if they lose … one bowl they will not play in is the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.
Syracuse today accepted a bid to play in the Dec. 30 game against a team from the Big 12 Conference.

That leaves (BCS notwithstanding), the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, N.C., on Dec. 31 (vs. ACC), the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 28 (vs. ACC), the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn,. on Dec. 31 (vs. SEC or C-USA) or the Beef O’Brady Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Dec. 21 (vs. C-USA).
The PapaJohn.com Bowl on Jan. 8 in Birmingham, Ala. (vs. SEC) is also a possbility but doubtful because the Huskies played in that bowl last season, beating South Carolina.
