According to the Associated Press, the Archdiocese of St. Louis, MO said, Archbishop Robert Carlson donated $10,000 from discretionary funds. The funds which include money from “gifts” have been used before on such things as disaster relief and the fight against abortion.
Other dioceses in the state of Missouri which made donations to beat down the equality initiative which would have allowed same-sex marriage include, Jefferson City which donated $2,000 and the Springfield-Cape Girardeau which donated $500.
The dioceses in Philadelphia, PA and Phoenix, AZ each donated $50,000.
Wednesday evening I was on James Hipps’ Gay Agenda program on BlogTalkRadio and we discussed the defeat of equality in Maine. We discussed the “nice-nice feel good” ads which Vote No ran and what the anti-gay opposition ran with its misinformation and scare tactic commercials.
As I said to James, seeing we have now lost 31 times when same-sex marriage is allowed to go to popular vote, the next time in the next state the organizers supporting same-sex marriage better learn playing nice-nice doesn’t win.
It’s time to get in the mud and attack the misinformation ads just as are done in political office races. Until the LGBT same-sex marriage campaign organizers are prepared to play hardball, they need not bother to show up at the dance.
