Sharon Lubinski who is the Assistant Police Chief of Minneapolis, MN, has become the first openly gay U.S. marshal after the U.S. Senate confirmed Lubinski to become the U.S. marshal for the Minnesota district.
Lubinski’s confirmation was announced on Monday by Minnesota Democrat Amy Klobuchar, who recommended her.
President Barack Obama formally nominated her to the marshal post in October. U.S. marshals oversee federal courthouse security, witness protection and the apprehension of federal fugitives.
