On Saturday, May 4, you can help save a life.  Be The Match, an organization dedicated to connecting patients in need of a life-saving bone marrow transplants through their donor registry, will be hosting a bone marrow drive in Norwalk, at the Intensity Fitness gym on Connecticut Avenue.  If you’re a healthy adult between the ages of 18 and 44, you can help.

Becoming a member of the Be The Match registry is easy; four simple cheek swabs are taken to see if you are a genetic match.  A $100 donation is required for testing and to maintain the registry.  When you join the Be The Match Registry, you make a commitment to consider donating to any searching patient who matches you. As a volunteer, you are never under any legal obligation to donate and your decision is always respected.

This particular drive is dedicated to helping to find a match for a four year-old girl named Jayden Emerson Roll who resides in Montreal, Canada, and loves all things princess.  Jayden is in need of a bone marrow transplant because she was just diagnosed with Myelodsplastic Syndrome (MDS) which is causing her bone marrow to fail.  Her search for a bone marrow donor match has gone international with drives being held in New York, Boston and other locations throughout the United States. You could potentially save her life! here is Jayden’s website by clicking here: Cure for Jayden.

Be The Match connects patients with life-saving marrow donors. They help save lives by:

  • Recruiting potential donors: Be The Match manages the largest and most diverse donor registry has more than 10.5 million marrow donors and nearly 185,000 cord blood units.
  • Supporting patients: Be The Match provides financial assistance to patients and their families to help offset costs of a marrow transplant.
  • Educating doctors: Doctors turn to Be The Match to learn about transplant advances, caring for transplant patients and the importance of timely referral for transplant.
