Join the biggest treasure hunt in town…Minks to Sinks, the largest semi-annual tag sale in our area will take place this weekend in Wilton. On May 4, 5, and 6 you’ll find tons (literally, tons) of gently used merchandise including; children’s toys, furniture, items for the home, clothing, sports gear and much, much more.
The event takes place under the tents at Danbury Road (Route 7) and School Road in Wilton at the town’s tennis courts – you can’t miss it. The sale will begin on Saturday, May 4, from 9-5, half-price bargain day is Sunday, May 5, from 12-4 and fill-a-bag bargain day is Monday, May 6 from 9-12. Proceeds from the event benefit the Family and Children’s Agency in Norwalk.
Minks to Sinks has its roots in the first rummage sale organized by volunteers in Wilton in 1931 to benefit the Nursing Association’s Well Child Program. The name Minks to Sinks was coined in 1952, when a volunteer at a pre-rummage sale meeting brought along a mink coat to donate to the sale. Someone else had donated a sink, and another volunteer suggested that they name the sale, Minks to Sinks. The name stuck, and to this day, the sale has always included at least one mink and more than a few sinks.
Admission is free and it’s fun to browse and see what treasures you’ll find!
