For many new moms fitting in a bit of exercise between feedings and diaper changes can be daunting. Stroller Strides, a fitness program geared towards new moms and moms-to-be, offers exercise programs that are fun and challenging for women of all fitness levels, and here’s the best part – there’s no babysitter needed – you bring your little one with you!
With up to 12 classes held each week in various indoor and outdoor locations from Greenwich to Norwalk, Stroller Strides is accessible to almost everyone. They offer a wide variety of exercise programs geared for women of all fitness levels – 5K training programs, Stroller Barre (which blends barre, Pilates, and yoga), and Stroller Strides class (which combines cardio and strength training and incorporates songs and movement that keeps baby engaged while you work out), you’ll be sure to find a class that appeals to you. Every class is taught by certified fitness instructors and provides an opportunity to make friends with other new moms while getting your body back – there’s even a baby and toddler playgroup following some sessions.
Instructor Elysa Jacobs Cruse, says the program is welcoming to everyone in a non-judgemental environment, “Everyone gets it if you have to stop to give your kid a snack. And the instructors are moms, so we can all relate,” Cruse says. A former client, she began teaching Stroller Strides after she had her baby over a year ago.
Stroller Strides will be celebrating their 8th year in Fairfield County on May 17, with a party in Binney Park in Greenwich. The party is free to attend and includes a 60 minute Stroller Strides class (with a Stroller Barre station!), goody bags to the first 75 attendees, raffle prizes from amazing local donors, T Shirts for the first 50 RSVPs, a local photographer capturing the event and photos of you with your baby, and more!
