Beertopia! Harbor Brew Fest Returns to Bridgeport

Although it may seem a tad early to be filling up your calendar for September, I suggest you get out your iPhone and type this date into your calendar app -September 28.  That’s the day that Harbor Brew Fest returns to Bluefish Stadium at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport.  Tickets for this one-day beer, food, and music festival go on sale today and they sell out fast, so there’s no procrastinating on this one!   (click the link for tickets – now!).

“Tis hard to tell which is best: music, food, beer or rest.” -Anonymous

The event taps off at noon with a limited attendance Brewers Special from noon to 1pm and General Admission begins at 1pm.  General Admission ($40 per ticket) will get you an unforgettable day of beer tasting from international, domestic and local brewers, a beer tasting glass, great music from talented local bands, delicious food from CT’s favorite food trucks and a fun-filled day to enjoy with friends. Brewer’s Special ($60 per ticket) includes all of the above plus samples of reserve & specialty brews from participating breweries an hour before general admission. Brewer’s Special tickets will also grant you exclusive access to the Brewer’s Beer Garden where starting at 1 PM, a different keg of beer will be tapped each hour on the hour through 5 PM.

This year, the organizers added more of your favorite local food trucks to the lineup, including: Super Duper Weenie, Fire Engine Pizza Co., Melt Mobile, Lobster Roll Truck, Local Meatball, Fryborg, Cowabunga, Aurora’s Gypsy Café, and Farmboys Smokin BBQ.  Also new this year, Harry’s Wine and Liquor will be sponsoring a CT Craft Beer Tent, which will feature the best home grown brews.

Because good music goes hand-in-hand with good beer, the foot-stomping, finger-snapping sounds of  John Reid, Tom Crowley & the Speakers, String Fingers, and Alpaca Gnomes will bring their rock and blues sounds to the festivities!

Before you arrive at the festival, arrange for a safe ride home! Discounted Designated Driver tickets ($10 per ticket) are available for anyone who wants to “take one for the team” and attend without sampling the beers. Can’t find a designated driver? The Metro North train station is a 5 minute stroll away. Additionally, there will be taxicabs available outside of the stadium throughout the day.

Once you’re bought your tickets, book your babysitter – no one under 21 is admitted.

Part of the proceeds from the event benefit the Harbor Lights Foundation, a Connecticut-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing safe and beneficial programming for children. Professional and trained staff provides an environment and special care that allow children to have fun-filled and diverse experiences while encouraging development of their social skills, self-confidence and independence. It is their goal to continue the important work of discovering and developing each child’s individual strengths and abilities.
