Dresses You’ll Live In All Summer Long

When the temperatures rise, so should your hemline.  At least that’s my philosophy!  Summertime in Fairfield County is all about tossing on something cute and comfortable – no stress dressing for the beach, pool, or just to run errands.

Shopping for these easy-breezy dresses should be as simple as zipping one up, so we enlisted the help of Lindsay Westbrook, owner of Spree in Darien.  Westbrook’s boutique is kind of like stepping into a fashion editor’s closet – everything is arranged by color, with a range of styles that fit every fashion personality – from preppy to boho.  But here’s the best part; Westbrook’s passion is seeking out designers that you don’t find in every local shop or department store, so you won’t look like a country club clone in your khaki skirt and alligator insignia top.  Below are a few dresses that are as pretty as they are comfortable.

This is the dress you’ll live in all summer long.  In super-soft cotton from Envy, this strapless number has an asymmetrical hem and graphic scribble print.  Slip on flip-flops and toss your hair in a messy bun during the day, or dress it up with heels and a pair of knockout earrings for evening.

A chambray tunic from Stacy Woo goes from beach to backyard.  Pull on a pair of leggings when the weather turns cooler and wear it into fall.

020 (427x640)Gorgeous turquoise evokes Caribbean waters and long days spent on the beach.   Stretch jersey fabric and a draped, faux-wrap top are super flattering.  This dress from Envi easily goes from day to evening – my pick for summer Friday!

022 (427x640)When the mercury rises, you’ll reach for this lightweight cotton dress from Hartford.  Cut to breathe and tied with a skinny leather belt,  you’ll feel nearly naked…in a good way!

023 (427x640)Show your stripes in this peppy orange and white striped number from Susanna Monaco.  Cute cap sleeves, a flattering scoop neckline, and slightly stretchy jersey drapes beautifully and has a laid-back-but-put-together vibe.

025 (427x640)

Another take on stripes, but with a preppy twist!  Wrap dresses look great on everyone and this one is easy to wear as a polo, but much more chic!

Two takes on boho – mini and maxi!  These dresses in Indian yarn dyed cotton are from Brooklyn based Ace & Jig and perfectly channel  a relaxed, beachy vibe.  Both feature defined waistlines that provide shape without being restrictive.

028 (427x640)Another gem from Susanna Monaco in rich sapphire blue.  The ballet neckline and fit-and-flare skirt is reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn…oversize sunglasses are not included!

Spree also has an amazing collection of flowy tops that pair with skirts or shorts and DL1961 jeans with patented 4-way stretch.
