Winter break – the two words that inspire exuberance in children also strike fear into the hearts of even the most patient parents. Keep the kids occupied when the luster of the holiday gifts wears off with local, family-friendly activities…and before you know it, the school bus will be pulling up to your door.
Carabiner’s (Fairfield) – Kids climbing the walls? Let them! Enjoy indoor rock climbing in a safe and challenging environment. Learn the ropes (literally!) with certified instructors. Located within the within Sportsplex complex – the facility also provides actvities for those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground.
Legoland Discovery Center (Westchester) The Legoland Discovery Center is a world of entertainment, color and creativity for families with children aged 3-10. They offer a wealth of attractions , 2 rides, 4D cinema and more! The average visit takes 2-3 hours, but guests are welcomed to stay and play. Tip! Buy tickets in advance, they sell out quickly!
Maritime Aquarium Seal Watching Cruise – (Norwalk) Cruise out for the chance to see some of the seals that spend their winters in Long Island Sound during The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk’s new season of Seal-Watching. These invigorating outings aboard the research vessel Oceanic occur many weekends from late December through late March. That’s when the seals come down from northern waters, which serve as their summer breeding and pupping areas. Dates and departure times vary by the tide schedule. CT Science Center (Hartford) - Make learning fun at the Connecticut Science Center! Eleven interactive exhibits focus on a wide array of science topics and provide fascinating insight into the world around us.
MakerBot (Greenwich) Older kids (8+) just adore technology – after all, didn’t they teach you how to use your iPad? Let them experience the latest “maker” technology with a class at the MakerBot store in Greenwich. Several classes throughout the holiday season allow them to make their own snowflake on a 3D printer!
Chelsea Piers (Stamford) – Batting cages, swimming, trampolines…the possibilities are endless at Chelsea Piers in Stamford. Anyone up for the indoor water slide!?
