The Thirtysomething’s Guide To Around Town

Welcome to my first post!  Each week I’ll be providing a list of my favorite Places to Go and People to See - a guide around town for my fellow thirtysomethings…

This week brings lots of activity and entertainment options!

Thursday, 8/6 @ 5:00 PM: Alive @ 5 – The season finale brings Sugar Ray to the Heineken Stage in Columbus Park.  The concert series is in part sponsored by the Columbus Park Area Merchants, which includes the newly opened lounge/nightclub, 84 Park, owned by Jon Bon Jovi’s brother, Matt.  Rumor has it the former will be making an appearance at the concert…

Friday, 8/7 @ 6:00 PM: Greenwich Jaycees Happy Hour – This month we are headed to the ultra chic lounge, 84 Park, located in the heart of downtown Stamford.  Come meet members of the Greenwich Jaycees and enjoy drink specials from 6-8 PM.  Be sure to get your stamp at the door and tell them you are with the Greenwich Jaycees.

Tuesday, 8/11 – Saturday, 8/15 @ 6:00 PM: Carnival of Fun – St. Catherine’s of Siena Church in Riverside is once again holding its annual fundraiser.  Always a great time, great food, and great entertainment!  Last year I dined on fabulous food from local vendors while listening to live music and later won a wicked game of whack-a-mole!

Wednesday, 8/12 @ 7:30 PM: Enjoy the free concert series at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.  The evening will feature Do Wop sounds from In Harmony.   Grab your friends and a picnic dinner and sprawl out on the lawn while listening to great live music.

** MARK YOUR CALENDARS **

On Saturday, October 17, 2009, the Greenwich Jaycees will host a fundraising event to benefit the National MS Society, CT Chapter.  THE ROARING 20s will be held from 7:00 – 11:00 PM at the Hilton-Stamford Hotel and an evening of find dining and dancing.  A silent auction and guest celebrities will round out the evening.  1920s style dress is encouraged!
