Black Rock Creative, an exhibition of works by local artists, opened at the Schelfhaudt Gallery, University of Bridgeport, Thursday, February 7 and runs to March 2. Featuring works by 17 artists, Black Rock Creative celebrates the prolific energy of Bridgeport’s Black Rock neighborhood, which is home to innumerable artists, musicians, writers, academics, collectors, and other professionals in the arts.
“This synergy provides a great example of when a community can work toward better art and society, it becomes a beacon of achievement,” says gallery director Peter Knosterlie.
Black Rock is an enclave with an indomitable collection of creative spirits. The neighborhood is located in the southwestern section of the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut. It’s historic neighborhoods swirl with a mixture of old and new. Many creative-types of different disciplines- live in this exciting and socially conscious community. This exhibition is an example of that creative spirit and a showcase of Black Rock’s diversity.
