A Journey: A Play, A Story, A Song

Kimberly Wilson, an actress, singer, and writer, will perform in “A Journey” on March 3rd at the Talmadge Community Church. Ms. Wilson wrote the play in which she portrays seven women, including a native African queen, a slave woman, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks, and Maya Angelou. By taking on the persona of each, she tells the stories of their experience in North America. While these are stories of African-American women, many of who made an important mark in history, Ms. Wilson depicts them in such a way that they could be about any woman who endeavors to make a life for herself, her family, and her community. The proceeds of this performance will go to support KEYS, which gives free private and group music lessons to inner-city Bridgeport children.
