The Associated General Contractors of America’s annual outlook on the industry found that 31 percent of firms in the industry plan to add staff this year and there is optimism that work on highways and hospitals will pick up this year.
Overall, the association said 2013 will be an improvement over 2012 with firms reporting some bidding power at last.
The report also provided outlooks for 30 states where response to the survey was high enough to provide some comfort of statistical relevance. Connecticut was not one of these states as only 7 firms responded to the poll.
Connecticut’s construction industry has been pummeled in this economy, but the hope is that restoration work related to superstorm Sandy will be just that, a restoration of the industry.
