General Electric is heading to the Windy City for its 2014 annual shareholders meeting.
The Fairfield-based conglomerate said Friday that its April 23 meeting will take place at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers.
The event’s location changes each year “to illustrate the diversity of the company’s businesses and the strength of its portfolio,” a GE release said.
The Chicago locals should be well-represented. The release says that GE employs more than 4,000 people at several locations in Illinois, including Chicago. That’s where GE Transportation is headquartered, along with several businesses within GE Capital and GE’s Monogram Design Center, the release says.
All told, GE has about 134,000 U.S. employees, making it one of the country’s biggest employers.
