As Household CEO, whether or not you work outside of the home – and technically 57% of all women in the US with school-aged children work outside of the home – you have a most demanding, and potentially rewarding position, responsibility, and power of example.
One of the concepts that I often refer to is the practice of using proven business skills to become a more effective manager – whether managing one’s home, family or life in general. Wouldn’t you agree that applying skills such as Time-Management, Delegation and improved Communication – so often used for successfully running a business – can and should be applied to your position as Household CEO?
Yes, I thought so!
Now, just how does one, practically speaking, put these theoretically powerful skills to work?
This is where I find myself giving real advice-as someone who has experienced this dilemma and come out on the other end, successfully-versus an expert, doctor or other intellectual source who publishes information about a problem/solution theoretically, but has never experienced it first hand. There is a HUGE difference!
Just ask the former smoker who could never quit smoking- despite reading every book on the subject- until he speaks with a successful former smoker and how theyexperienced the problem, what steps/tools were used to solve the problem, and the feelings surrounding the whole process, was that person able to quit smoking.
Thus, it is experiential information that enable us to change our behavior, either solving a problem, or becoming more effective at our ‘jobs’.
Long and short of it: VISUALIZE THE GOAL. VISUALIZE the FEELINGS surrounding the solution and go to great lengths seeing, believing, living and acting out all of the details around the successful completion of the task at hand.
VISUALIZATION IS A POWERFUL SKILL IN LIFE: WHETHER MANAGING A COMPANY, HOUSEHOLD, FAMILY, LIFE or any combination of these!
