Sunday night

Line of the night that didn’t make the story: Caldwell. “As a team, collectively, we’ve got to start a playoff run right now.”

Away from the puck, referee Ryan Fraser was by far the most lenient referee the Sound Tigers have seen in six games. Those shoves to the back and stick-tie-ups off the puck weren’t really called. Most of what was called was the old-fashioned, smack-the-guy-on-the-puck penalties.

The short-hander was a weird one: Michel Ouellet passed back to his own zone to Noah Welch, who rimmed the puck behind the net and around to Christensen, who was on the other side of the ice. Christensen had a two-on-one from there, gained the zone and shot back against the grain to the left post to beat Wade Dubielewicz.

Kevin Colley tried to stand up for his team in the third period.

Greg Cronin pulled his goalie three times in two years. Dave Baseggio has had to do it twice in six games.

Numbers of the weekend: 4,018 and 2.916. What now?
