The writers down on the Island have nominated Joel Bouchard for the Masterton Trophy, a nice call for a great honor.
Funny story about today’s all-star announcement… As you may know, players and media get a vote, one per city. Before and during Saturday’s game, Peter Zellen and I sat down and hashed out the BPT media vote, making compromises, one of us going to bat for some picks and the other one insisting on others. The way it came out, our all-star picks were strikingly close to the announced teams; our goaltenders, centermen and right wingers were exactly as the vote came out, and on left wing, we had MacLean and Hamel instead of MacLean and Hudler.
But on defense… Our top two were Pock and Helmer. Our Nos. 5 and 6 were Delmore and Murphy.
If the fifth- and sixth-place finishers in the vote were Nasreddine and Nycholat, Peter and I completed some kind of weird topsy-turvy hat trick.
