The number is… well, still 10. But Ryan Caldwell and Matt Koalska walked in at about 11:15 this morning, lugging their gear and their sticks. They’re back early, while Cole Jarrett and Masi Marjamaki headed out to the Island to make their NHL debuts tonight. Then, they all come back here. There’s a team meeting in the morning, and no word on whether they’ll be wearing “HI! MY NAME IS” tags.

No official word on Comeau, but also no indication that it’s not going to happen.

Dunno what’s up with the notebook not showing up online. Unlike some other southern Connecticut daily papers, we generally try to put all the local stuff online (or at least we always have)… when it doesn’t make it, it’s an oversight somewhere rather than a conscious decision.

To summarize:

–Lead note was about Dave Baseggio and the Yale job. He said they contacted him and wanted him to come in for an interview, as they were moving quickly. “I couldn’t in good faith walk into that (Bridgeport) locker room interviewing for another job,” Baseggio said. “It’s not fair to everyone involved. I felt I did the right thing.”
–Off lead, I’ll put here in its entirety, since this is basically how I’d tell the story anyway:
KNOWING YOUR EAR FROM YOUR ELBOW — Jeff Hamilton was one of 14 players who took the optional practice Monday, and he went the whole way. Afterward, he said he wasn’t about to spill any information about the injury that has kept him out for three
weeks.
But, he was pressed, did that “upper-body injury,” the one following that blow to the head March 24, feel any better?
“No, the shoulder’s still a little banged up,” he said, flexing the right one. “Coupla weeks.”
He turned away, and shouted back, “Ankle!”
Gee, and all along we thought it was a concussion.
–Third note was about Luch Aquino coming back after the huge junior season, the confidence gained, having something to prove there. It also mentioned all the bodies coming down, coming in, and going out — Barr and Miles being released, and Lee and Jarmuth going home.

Found something semi-interesting just sitting there on the site, buried in a corner under Dave Wells’ online columns: the gamer from the turning point of the season.
