"Buncha savages in this town."

So this should draw some discussion, I guess. Danny Marshall is, I’d venture, one of those guys that you have to be into the structure of the organization to have a handle on. (Though hey, I’ve quoted him once, mentioned him on the blog twice and mentioned him in print four other times, so c’mon!)

Has he come out of nowhere? A little. Is this a surprising hire? Probably.

Is it shocking? Oh no.

This is a guy who got himself into the organization at just about the ground floor, hockey-wise, and has been given more responsibility over the years, to a point where, if you’ve been at Sound Tigers games and taken a peek up to the press box a few times over the past two years, you at least know what Danny looks like.

Marshall knows a lot of the young kids very well. He has been involved with the summer prospect camps, like the one that finished up Saturday in Syosset. He traveled a lot the past few years to work with the kids and keep tabs on them.

So we’ll see what he can do.

Heard some conflicting things on the assistant coaches’ situation today, so we’ll see who (if any) get introduced. Interestingly, all the most-mentioned candidates do have pro head-coaching experience.

“Anibal Hamlin” sent me spam earlier this week. No word if he’s the Cockney descendant of Lincoln’s first veep

Button ‘E’ on my laptop continually pops off upon striking. This will turn difficult if I try hard to avoid it. Most common button to touch, is all. I may want to consult a dictionary to find various words, so as to stay away from that button. (No hitting that button for “Dan Marshall,” luckily. Last guy? Fourth button, both parts. (This is hard.*))
