Orange you glad?

Coupla things that didn’t make it in…

Figured I’d save these for a little more rounded view and/or official word, but just to toss them out there, it appears Jason Guerriero and Kevin Mitchell are coming back. Guerriero was the little skill and speed guy who came in from Northeastern at the end of 2004-05, who put the shootout away in the last game of the year. He played for Ilves Tampere last year. Mitchell, whom I’ll always remember as one of the handful of Bronx natives entwined in this franchise*, was the not-so-big, offensive defenseman who came in in the middle of 2002-03 and was let go to go to Cleveland at the All-Star break. He’s been in Europe the past two years and should be helped by the New Rules. There’s at least one more Long Island connection who’s supposedly coming.

Also, Howard Saffan was excited about getting a few more dates after January. Just to show the divide: In 2005-06, in the 18 home dates at the end of calendar year 2005, Bridgeport averaged an attendance of 3,277. In calendar year 2006, it averaged 4,055 in 22 dates. This year, the split is 15 games in 2006 and 25 games in 2007.

Meanwhile, not to imply a political endorsement or denouncement — I would never tell you here which way to vote (or which way you should have voted) in real-world stuff — but I’ll just guess that Section14.com might be a nasty, horrible, vile read at times from now until early November. And hey, I’ll be sure to stop by.

(What’s the opposite of that “shameful joy” thing of yours? (7F23))

*-Bronx natives: Howard Saffan is another, and I believe Phil Giubileo becomes another…

MINI UPDATE: Hop over to Lindsay’s blog and check out this note on Syracuse’s Brandon Sugden. His wife is pregnant… and Sugden’s getting creative with the possible names.
