March 11 save total: 53

Hate to spoil the kicker in the game story, but here it is anyway: Dubielewicz stopped a game’s worth of shots after Hershey tied the game.

Shots were 20-11, Hershey, at Klepis’ goal. Dubielewicz stopped the next 34.

It looked vaguely Decemberish*, with the turnovers at both blue lines contributing directly, in Steve Regier’s terms, to the shot total.

Dubielewicz stopped ’em. “It didn’t feel like 50-however-many,” he said, but at this point one imagines he’d say that if he faced 100 breakaways.

The penalty kill was the only part that scared him. Hershey took about 12 shots on its power plays, had another big scoring chance seconds after one ended, and must have had at least six chances blocked by Regier, Colliton and Fata.

(It’s kind of weird to say this about a game in which a team gave up 54 shots, but there were a lot of good individual performances tonight.)

Matt Murley and Jakub Petruzalek walked into Norfolk and helped the Rats become just the second team to win there in regulation, so it’s a three-point lead still. Most of those three are probably Dubielewicz’s.

Boguniecki in the past nine: 5-8-13.

Philly refuses to go away, staying eight back; Peter Zingoni got to double digits in tonight’s 3-2 win at Rochester. (Remember Rochester?)

Yeah, fantastic about the record, but will we be going to Karlis Skrastins’ for coffee in 40 years?

What kind of night is it where Colton Orr and Ryan Hollweg both have a goal and a fight in the same game? (The kind of night I best get home to try to catch the replay, that’s what kind of night.)

Meanwhile over at TWL, Jim Caple imagines the greatest comeback of all time. (Tip o’cap to old buddy Eric.)

Last but foremost, RIP, Hank Bauer.

*-Not Decembrist. That’d be different.
