And still waiting

No word on this off-day, neither from up nor down, about what’s going on with the roster. Apparently some affected players won’t be told their fates until the morning, here and there. That would seem to indicate they’re working on deals with one (or two) (or three?) of their tryout players. And that would affect everything else.

The Islanders have to have their NHL roster in by 3 p.m. Tuesday. Bridgeport has a similar deadline, but of course they have a little more flexibility as to what happens after that.

Some notes: Steve Valiquette is the Rangers’ backup goalie. Petteri Nokelainen goes to Providence; Martin Kariya goes to Peoria. Lawrence Nycholat is on waivers to go to Binghamton; Bryce Lampman goes to Norfolk. Son-of-Hawk Sam Gagner, Nick Foligno and Calder Cup champ Carey Price all make the NHL.
