Kids after my own heart

Only popped in on practice to count heads and sort line combos (same), because I took in the Sound Tigers’ mini-press conference for “Cool Fun 101” at Black Rock School. The kids were all kinds of interested about who wore what number. In fact, Howard Saffan had to cut short the number questions, they were so plentiful. Taking it on faith that some of these kids are geeks in training, count us happy about that.

(One of them asked about No. 1. Just for fun: Only two Sound Tigers have ever been assigned it. One’s maybe not obvious, but not impossible, either; he wore it in a few games, then changed. The other’s harder; he did not get in a game. Name ’em.)

So yeah, status quo in the morning. Jack Capuano said they hadn’t yet sorted out the lineup for Friday.

Rick Tocchet can come back Feb. 7. Joe Posnanski saw a perfect game in the Japan Series. The WBS Pens had a blindfolded practice. Didja see this crazy play? (Here’s a gamer.)
