Postgame math

If this night has proven anything, it’s that I can’t add in my head in Base 60.

That, and this Okposo kid might be OK.

Maybe he had a couple of shifts where he looked a little tentative, but he did a lot of good things, and did them simply.

To sum it up: “He got in blocking lanes. He tracked really well. He was sound positionally,” Capuano said. “Overall, I thought his game was really good for a first game, for a young kid. I’m very impressed.”

To welcome him, the Sound Tigers had another gut-wrenching loss, though these two go-ahead goals were a little flukier than some of the others. Funky bounce on the 2-1 goal, and a good deflection on the winner.

And the kid went out and got his pro career started in front of 3,993 fans in Binghamton, N.Y.

Oh, and remember that Tambellini guy? The scoring streak is at nine. Only six streaks — including that Torres playoff 11-gamer in 2002, and his own 10-gamer last year — are longer in BST history.

Below the fold is what might pass as a full Okposo shift chart, done mostly in cleaned-up stream of consciousness. Read and laugh at my feeble attempts. The best part of the night is that I was a minute heavy on time in the first period and a minute light in the second, so the combined time was right…

Meanwhile, I just realized I saved stuff for the bottom and have nothing to break it with after blowing the lineups on warmups. Dumb. Umm…

OKPOSO’S SHIFTS — start time remaining-finish time remaining, minus colons

FIRST PERIOD
1923-1843 Carkner takes him to the boards. Pass to slot leads to Tambellini save.
1625-1432 (PP 1604-1432): Penalty, 1604, stays out on power play. Late, goes behind the net and to left corner with puck. Supports Tambellini in left corner. Forecheck forces a quick pass and near turnover.
1239-1122 Chases puck a bit in D-zone. -TVTO- Quick spin on boards before hit to feed Tambellini on clear. Backcheck on Hennessy in neutral zone helps slow rush. Later goes up the right side, runs hard into Lee but keeps the puck.
855-753 After the fights, they’re lined up… C’mon, Okposo-Foligno! (Nah.) Goes to the net for a partial screen on a Nielsen shot.
642-556 Runs into Foligno twice in D-zone on breakout.
444-345 Gets it deep once, then hanging a little near the blue line in the D-zone as the puck’s in the corner.
220-111 Chip out to red line. Tries to split, ref calls hand pass. Tried Nielsen down low from left circle on nice Tambellini pass – could’ve shot?
PP 025.5-000 Takes a backhander.
Eight shifts, 8:16; includes two shifts, 2:02, on power play

SECOND PERIOD
PP 2000-1949 Hey, a point: Kept puck in and fed Dustin Kohn at left point for redirect Walter.
PP 1801-1655 Didn’t catch much.
PP1529-1417 Wins a draw on the right side. Runs into defenders with the puck but keeps it. Tries Tambellini back-door, but Nycholat tips it out of play. Wins another draw. Out of the left corner, passes up shot to try Walter down low, which misses connection.
1203-1110 Dumped off the draw. Drives to the net to try for a rebound on Nielsen’s shot; no go.
658-543 Takes an entry pass, then takes a hit but holds on. Later recovers a loose puck but gives it away. Nielsen nearly finds him at the right post late in the shift.
325-236 Third-man high on a Binghamton breakout, in position.
057-000 Almost runs into Tambellini on the rush, but later drives to the net on a Tambellini shot. Has a late shot blocked from a bad angle.
Seven shifts, 6:23; includes four shifts, 3:44, on power play

THIRD PERIOD
1930-1901 Out challenging Nycholat at the left point; Nycholat gets it through, but wide. Mauldin later scores on Funky Play No. 1.
1112-950 Zubov caught him flat-footed in the neutral zone at the start of the shift, but plenty of help was behind him. Came back for a loose puck.
PP 912-829 Goes to the left side of the net on a delayed penalty, tries for a tip, stopped — takes Tambellini’s missed shot to the corner, centers to Walter for a goal and Assist No. 2.
PP 738-618 Got the puck back deep off a Nielsen keep-in. Went to the net but was a touch slow (tied up, maybe?) on a pass from behind the net.
349-238 Knocked the puck away from Lee at the Bingo blue line, cut right and slapped one that Glass stopped under his left arm. -TVTO- Loses offensive-zone draw.
102-010.7 With Morrison pulled, ended up at the left point late and had a shot stopped. The puck came to Foligno up the left wing; Okposo came across and cut him off, backchecking all the way to the goal line; referee Davis didn’t call the penalty until the four bodies were in a pile below the Bridgeport goal line.
Six shifts, 5:56; includes two shifts, 2:03, on power play

Total: 21 shifts, 20:35; power play: 8-7:49.
