Trap game

I forgot to thank Trevor Smith for sparing us five more minutes (or more).

If a Devil had scored, forget first star, he might have won my MVP vote.

Jack Capuano talked about Lowell’s “sound systematic game,” but… Look, Bridgeport competed hard, as Capuano said, but you get that trap going, it’s like watching an old Tigers-Albany game from 2004-05. Three stars? Whoever isn’t ready to tear his hair out.

And watching the power play not click couldn’t have been helpful, either, but then Smith gets himself to the middle, uses Matt Keith’s screen, and that’s it.

All kinds of unsung-heroic type of things — big hits by Brennan and Jackman to kind of break the stupor for a while, things like that — but how about Mark Wotton jumping in when Leblond leveled Regier behind the play? There’s plenty of commitment here.

There could have been at least one more Lowell too-many-men penalty early. Maybe two.

Real white sweaters, to avoid the frightening orange-red matchup.

Desrochers is the 42nd player to play for the Sound Tigers this season, not counting Mike Mole; that’s six shy of the team record set each of the past two seasons. (2005-06 had three more players skate in the playoffs only and had two backup goalies who didn’t play.)

I have asked about getting a one-on-one interview with SpongeBob SquarePants tomorrow, but I’m not optimistic.

Prescout. The Bucs won’t be happy.

Hokey smokes! Break up the Pack, then break up the P-Broons, who almost came back from 7-1.

Phil Janack put together a nice Brandon Nolan feature.

Uni Watch notes that Marc-Andre Fleury has ditched his yellow pads for white ones.

Pete Vandermeer has himself an NHL contract.

Nighthawks reference: Raimo Helminen has (apparently) played his last international game.
