"Bernie?"

Captain’s practice this morning, which degenerated to a game of baseball in the Broad Street end by the end: a pitcher flipping pucks to a batter and all. But before that, the Cavemen defeated the Pigeons 10-5…

…and early departer Drew Fata, with the WGA strike over I suppose, added a comment to each player’s name on the board. Returnee Justin Bourne got “best goal.” Pascal Morency was “hardest worker.” Most of the others got something different. Names withheld to protect the innocent: “I thought he was the trainer!” “Worst hair/defensive player.” “He was out there?” “Stick boy?”

Fata’s comment on himself: “Didn’t cross the red line.” And on Mark Wotton… “I don’t want to say anything bad about Wot’s.”

So Bourne in, a couple of guys still fighting the flu, Kohn out for the weekend but a possibility for next week.

Edit: Flu’s hitting in Carolina, too; three Rats defensemen got called up.

Forgot it last night: Mike Ricci was with the Sharks’ coaches behind the bench.

The Amerks’ owners are talking, which is different, at least.

Uni Watch had some nice links today, foremost about Minnesota’s equipment manager. (This Space is a big fan of his predecessor, and thanks for the kind mention.) And check out this about a veteran hockey player.
