Last ride in

Another happy-go-lucky night where it ends with Capuano in disbelief and threatening benchings. Classic. One night, and it’s like it’s December again.

On the other hand… First goal, Dwyer breaks free in front of the net, bang, 1-0. Samson scores on the power play, 2-0. The Sound Tigers’ power play puts shots on, but not a heck of a lot of traffic or rebounds (two just-imperfect back-door plays, but not a lot of traffic or rebounds). Then in the third, there’s only four Sound Tigers on the ice for about 10 seconds. Fraser has no chance at all against the three-man rush. Not sure who was supposed to be there — combinations got a little raggedy-andy as time went on — but Wotton had no chance to disrupt the rush by the time he came charging off the bench. An empty-netter later…

So no more streak. Tomorrow will be interesting. This team hasn’t lost two in a row since Jan. 11. They’ve had bad games and rebounded.

(Had Albany’s third ‘A’ on the wrong guy before the game — Mormina instead of Gillies.)

First time Wotton, Tambellini and Jackman were all here in letters since Dec. 1.

The lines and pairs changed greatly for everyone, sometimes shift-to-shift.

Steve Ward took a Spiller shot off the face in the first. He came back about 15 minutes later with a full shield.

First intermission, cuddly mascot Rowdy had a stuffed tiger — it looked like an unlicensed Hobbes doll, from up here — hanging from a rope. He was dragging it around the ice.

Trent Hunter isn’t going anywhere: five-year extension.

Stanislav Chistov cleared waivers, which is great, because, you know, the Providence Bruins need all the help they can get. Veteran Grant Potulny went from Hershey to Springfield for defenseman Danny Syvret. Patrick Williams notes that Austin got a little closer… if 2010-11 seems close to you.

Uni Watch talks Trevor Linden and uniform combinations. Bauer gets sold.

Went and finally saw Juno today. Loved it. Ellen Page is golden. Actually, the whole ensemble is pretty solid. Good to see Michael Cera and Jason Bateman almost in the same place again. Meanwhile, they’re closing Showcase Orange II? Darn. Even with the amenities and stuff at the Post Mall now, I liked Orange better. Oh well. Not like I go that often, anyway.

This is the first time in four tries that Bridgeport has lost on Feb. 22. And in case you missed it buried under the Macbeth post this morning: Happy 28th anniversary. (Though it’s over now.)
