Six Tigers

Hunter. Manlow. Papineau. O’Marra. Tambellini. Colton Fretter.

What do they have in common?

Well, read the gamer*. Or wait, like, three words.

They’re the six Sound Tigers who have scored two goals in their Bridgeport (regular-season) debuts.

“I can’t really ask for more,” the newcomer said. “Going to a place where I’ll get an opportunity to play, I want to take advantage of that opportunity.”

He credited the passes, Trevor Smith’s on the first one and Matt Keith’s on the second one. The kid has a three-game scoring streak, by the way; it’s just that the first two were a month and a half ago.

“I had a streak of five games in Chicago. I had a couple of points, a goal in my last game,” Fretter said. “I came back the next day, and they told me I was scratched. It’s been a frustrating time.”

A little better here.

“He went to the net on the first,” Capuano said. “That was a goal-scorer’s goal, the second, low blocker.”

The overall effort was solid again. “Nothing pretty,” Capuano said, and if this team had a motto, that might be it.

Oh, by the way, if it seems like Trevor Smith is scoring every game? He is. He has a 10-game scoring streak.

Wilkes-Barre lost. Hershey lost. Albany came back and won. The deficit is one.

No word on the goaltending situation for tomorrow, though Mike Mole was in the dressing room tonight.

John Sullo comes up to me tonight and says, “I’m a liar.” I hadda laugh when Pitton comes out for warmup. He gave it a good go and did a nice job on the penalty kill and at the end of the game. I think the surgery is still on. But we’ll see.

Others with multiple points in their first BST game: Tim Jackman (1-1), Kyle Okposo (0-2), Bruno Gervais (1-1), Jeff Hamilton (0-2), Mike Souza (1-1), Nick Smith of course (0-2), and Jim Campbell (1-1). Oh, and Blake Comeau (0-4), with the same “regular-season” qualification as Tambellini. (Tambellini had an assist in his first game, making him the only other player with more than two points in his first BST game.)

Wow: Rockford smokes Providence in Illinois. Got a little testy, too.

Lindsay Kramer has a pregame fight between the Crunch and the Marlies covered on his blog.

*-Ah, the gamer. We were very early tomorrow and were lucky to get anything in. Here’s why.
