Day after last

(Hmm… I’d better post my stuff before Newsday does…)

Here’s the wrap, which includes a simplified contract-status chart (you blog denizens get the “Group VI” treatment), a rambling five-questions that let me get to stuff that didn’t fit in the features, and 10 key moments from the season (which leaves a few out — to me, most memorably, three Philly games: Ruzicka going nuts in the box; the next game, the “what just happened here” game, with the Fata penalty and the Regier short-handed/extra-attacker goal; and the last one at home, with Tambellini’s hat trick.) Rush out and buy the hard copy, which is our centerpiece this morning.

Andy’s comment last night got me to Utah’s Webcast just in time to hear the end of the Grizzlies’ triple-OT thriller. Bourne from Haskins (who’d missed on a penalty shot back in the first OT, before the Grizzlies killed two Falcons power plays) on the winner off a turnover; Dwyer and A-Mac had PPGs.

Housekeeping, since we’re out of weeklies: Jiri Tlusty of Toronto was the final player of the week, while Bridgeport nominated Trevor Smith and Manchester nominated Jon Quick. Barry Brust of Houston, Derick Brassard of Syracuse and Corey Locke of Hamilton were goaltender, rookie and player of the month for April.

Brandon Nolan’s skating.

The brilliant baseball-reference.com has branched out to hockey. It’s early yet, but it could be a nice supplement to Ralph Slate’s Hockey DB. But just a supplement.

And RIP, Randy Smith.
