Sudden life

Well, so much for chasing Hershey. Brendan Mikkelson scored in OT to keep Portland away from a 3-0 hole. Petteri Nokelainen made it 2-2 for the PBroons. So it’s a series. Up in Toronto, Syracuse stayed hot. Fisticuffs three seconds into the series. Got to love it.

The Worlds are on. Box scores are here, as are rosters and stats. They’re PDF-happy again this year. The Czechs beat the Fransless Danes 5-2; Filip Kuba, whom I missed the last time, had an assist for the victors. Russia beat Italy, but Mario Chitaroni, at 40-mumble, played the second-most of any Italian forward. The United States beat Latvia on four power-play goals. Canada beat Slovenia.

Sean Bergenheim and Finland begin today against Germany. Branislav Mezei isn’t on the Slovak roster, though they have only 17 men listed. Otherwise, I think everyone else we talked about the other day is on his nation’s roster (except, as we figured, for Frans Nielsen, who isn’t playing).

Utah’s back at it Saturday.

And me, I’m spending lots of time with Fairfield Prep lacrosse…
