Top to bottom, left to right

All the way back come the Marlies; back from 2-0 down after losses at home (the sixth team ever to do that), back from 3-1 down (the 14th), and they’re on to the conference final with a 3-2 win over Syracuse in Game 7. Rockford-Chicago is Tuesday.

The league notes: It’s the first time Syracuse has lost three in a row — in any manner, even including OTLs and SOLs — since late October.

Utah dropped Game 1. Sound Tigers galore on that scoresheet, of course.

Almost-ex-files: Carolina signed Bryan Rodney to an NHL deal.

A hat trick for Brandon Dubinsky in the United States’ 9-1 pasting of Norway. The Americans finish third and get Finland in the quarterfinals; the Finns lost to Canada Monday to wind up second. (Still no Bergenheim; haven’t seen a reason.) Canada won the pool and gets Norway after Latvia blew a third-period lead and lost to Germany (Herberts Vasiljevs had a goal).

Russia hangs on to beat the Swiss and set up a rematch in the quarterfinals. The Czechs and Swedes play again, with the Czechs finishing second and the Swedes third.

The quarters are all Wednesday. Canada-Norway is in the afternoon; United States-Finland is a night start.

Maybe this is inside-baseball for us in the business, but CablevisioNewsday will be fascinating to watch from afar…

Great story from Joe Posnanski.

And finally, while the return of things like last night’s and-finally-link make you go aaaaaaaagh, the return of things like this is much different. Righteous and out-of-sighteous, in fact. Especially if they get someone as good as the first Easy Reader to play the new Easy Reader.
