He better not take that ring from me…

Timmy Jackman is coming back on another two-way deal, as Greg Logan reported a while ago.

In response to comments: Latest is Brennan is not likely coming back, that they’ll go younger with the tough guys (Haley’s probably back, Morency may be, Rechlicz is obviously signed). And Mike Mole may in fact be unhappy with the organization, but the feeling sure seemed to be pretty mutual since last year’s rookie camp.

Up in the big leagues: What a great game tonight. Action, big saves for Fleury, the last-minute tie to stay alive, Gonchar coming out of the fog.

There was a sequence in front of Chris Osgood about midway through the second. The Penguins had a few scoring chances. Someone tried a wraparound that didn’t work. Bodies were strewn all over the ice. I felt a little anxious. The Red Wings cleared. Then I realized why I felt anxious: I was expecting a penalty (and dreading it). Remember when you could knock guys down around the net? When every bit of incidental contact didn’t have the entire arena yelling for a penalty, because that’s the way they’d been conditioned?

OK, off the soapbox.

Good afternoon game, too. Lauralton had itself a battle against East Catholic, but the Crusaders were just too strong, particularly Bridget Gates on the mound. She got down the go-ahead bunt, too, popping it over the EC pitcher’s glove. The education’s paying off: Gates said she said “about 10 Hail Marys” going down the line, hoping the ball would drop in. Prayer works, apparently.

A little baseball doubleheader Tuesday.

Got up this morning and found “Funny Farm” on AMC. Chevy Chase in a Mets cap. Couldn’t remember who that was playing his wife. IMDBed it… It’s Madolyn Smith, who’s now Madolyn Smith Osborne — married to former Rangers forward Mark Osborne.

Alex Goligoski not only got called up (though he didn’t play), but he got the AHL record for points in a playoff season by a defenseman (26) after a scoring change. Game 3 in the Other Final is Wednesday.

The A.V. Club’s Noel Murray gets deep into the J’s — John Lennon, Johnny Cash, et al — in Part 22 of his ongoing Popless series.

Today (Monday) is the 50th anniversary of the release of the album “The Kingston Trio.” Opening with the almost-bawdy “Three Jolly Coachmen,” running through “Little Maggie,” passing legendary tracks like “Tom Dooley” and “Scotch and Soda” along the way, the album that sparked the folk revival was on the street. (If this has bored you, fear not: I’m out of KT 50th anniversaries. If it hasn’t, I’m glad…)

And finally: RIP, Bo Diddley.
