Camp, Day 2: And I'm a little sore, too

So there’s much banged-up-ness (or is that banged-up-itude?) around here. Walter’s got a knee that’ll keep him out a little bit. Iggulden took a shot off the foot; he’s closer, from what we gather, but he had a worse limp at the moment than Walter. Smith didn’t go, either; heard conflicting things about that. Still no Haley or Marcinko. And now they actually get to play a game. (The plan was for lots of kids to play tomorrow, anyway, and all week, Jack Capuano said. The time will go quickly, but still, it’s 10 days until the opener — some time to rest up.)

Morency skated in both sessions again today; a couple of the tryout kids did, too. To help ease the pain, Odessa’s Mike Lesperance is going to come in. Buzz about maybe some others. Two others are Travis Fuller and Jarrett Konkle. The latter was a college teammate of Kimber Auerbach, game ops director/PR director/chauffeur/baggage handler/videographer/whatever else needs doing for the Sound Tigers. Which, c’mon, is just awesome.

A bit of former-BST coaching news, before I go and write about two others: Cail MacLean will be an assistant for South Carolina.

Among those with local ties sent down Monday: Eric Boguniecki, David Desharnais, Jaime Sifers, Bates Battaglia, Scott Ford (who’s on an AHL deal anyway). Joe Rullier was released from his San Jose PTO. Today: Colton Fretter.

Raffi Torres is hurt again.

Neat Sam Weinman story about the logistics of moving the Rangers to Europe for a week. Caught the third period today, which made me wonder how it had been close.

And finally, we hate to see a newspaper go down. RIP, New York Sun.
