Late Wednesday

Before I get back to the book that’s supposed to be back at the library tomorrow…

Utah signed AHL not-quite-vet Dennis Packard. He’s played for Springfield, Providence and Worcester, out of Harvard.

Joe Rullier is out in Binghamton, Michael Sharp reports.

This Jody Shelley-Eric Godard fight is interesting. Far more interesting? The description of Godard as “capricious.” (I’m not sure it’s quite the right word, but still, seen “capricious” lately?)

John McIntyre’s blog at the Baltimore Sun has talked for a couple of days about foreign loan words into English, how to pronounce ’em and pluralize ’em. Just loved his last paragraph there.

And finally, after considering the possibility of a Pitton-Hennigar-Joensuu line… From the April 23, 2003, notebook:

MORE DUMB FUN WITH NUMBERS — During the series against Manchester, Bridgeport skated two lines in which the sum of the left winger and center’s sweater numbers totaled the right winger’s sweater number: Martin Chabada (14)-Eric Manlow (7)-Trent Hunter (21) and Mike Souza (10)-Blaine Down (9)-Konstantin Kalmikov (19).

Unfortunately, we never did see Belak (53)-Tyler Rennette (23)-Jeff Hamilton (76).

(Argh. Check out the URL. What day is it?)
