Welcome to the Rock

Well, the Tigers are in Newfoundland. (Or else Jack Capuano’s watch is a half-hour fast.) Some thoughts on today’s game:

–Sounds like more point-gained than point-lost: “It was a good game. There’s no disappointment on my end with the work ethic or anything. We did take a couple of stick infractions that were uncalled for, really. It’s something we’ll continue to work on, with the new rules of the NHL. They’ve got a great power play. … The way both teams were playing, it could have gone either way.”

–On the unconscious Bingo power play: “The first power play was more or less a broken play. The puck squirted to the side of the net. … The other two were really good goals for them. The puck went D-to-D. Smith got a tip (for the 3-2 goal). (On the tying goal), Bell took the shot, and we had layers. Peter (Mannino) was screened, and it just found the net.”

–He was happy with the chances they got, especially in overtime. In the shootout, “we just couldn’t buy one. Elliott was good.”

–Hennigar was the guy they sent on for Mannino on the delayed penalty, which means the plus/minus is wrong for that goal. (There’s a defenseman missing.) Capuano said he did some good work again today. The rewards came. (He said the lines remained the same as Sunday’s game.)

–The response to a Hennigar question veered into an unsolicited bit of praise for Jeremy Colliton. “We moved Jeremy to the wing. He’s been one of our best players, it seems right now, wherever I put him. He’s done really well on the power play. He’s done really well on the penalty kill.” He’s sure the offense will follow.

–Comeau and Kohn will skate in the morning and see how they’re feeling; probably game-time decisions on both.

Bob Woods broke up Hershey’s big line in practice to try to spark something. Meanwhile, Doug Yingst is banged up, but not enough to stop working. He’s a hockey player exec.

The Telegram talks a bit about the possibility of getting the AHL back to St. John’s. Some interesting details.

Have I said lately how much Joe Posnanski is the man?

And RIP, Herb Score and Preacher Roe.
