Mauldin had a secretary named Gernander

You may have read earlier that Greg Mauldin’s goal, 11 seconds into the second period, was the fastest ever against the Sound Tigers into a second period. (It’s the most meaningful stat you’ll ever hear.) The Sound Tigers won, 6-2.

Well, the earliest goal ever into a Sound Tigers game was scored by Ken Gernander, Oct. 12, 2001, 12 seconds into the second game ever at the Arena at Harbor Yard. Final? Bridgeport won, 6-2.

Oooooooooooh.

(Fedor Fedorov’s goal in the third period, aforementioned? Final score? Manitoba 4, Bridgeport 0. So, yeah, just coincidence.)
