To expand a little:

The Danis-Mannino move was evidently a late one, but it makes sense. Danis hasn’t played since Nov. 1, and that’s the only game he has played since Portland. Does this mean Danis plays both games this weekend? Stay tuned, I guess.

Anyway, Capuano said he had a conversation planned with Garth Snow about the defense. He has shown no concerns yet, though, about having extra bodies. “I think it’s great to have guys around,” Capuano said, reiterating something he has said a lot this month. “We’ve got a lot of hockey games to be played. The New York Islanders have a lot of games to be played. Knock on wood, there’s no injuries, but defense is an important position. We’ve got eight quality defensemen.”

Another part of that chat was about what kind of role the Islanders want Mike Sillinger to play here Sunday-Saturday. Capuano said they hadn’t talked at all about that yet.

Steve Regier went back up to St. Louis.

And finally, Joe Franke asked today if I had any idea what number Sillinger wore in the minors. I had none. Joe did. It was 16.

Joe is the man.

(BTW, seriously, check out some of the names on the Adirondack team on that link, the one that ended the Nighthawks era. Man.)
