Local news

The early word on Lawson is wait-and-see. Which is probably good news. If they were scrambling to bring somebody in this far away from a game, you’d have to be concerned.

(Speaking of which, a reminder, if you were working off the very-first version of the schedule that was released: The game originally scheduled for Wednesday has been moved to Dec. 21. That’s the first night of Chanukah, and according to a press release from the Sound Tigers today, we’ll be celebrating at the barn. It’s also scheduled to be the Teddy Bear Toss.)

Stratford’s own Jaime Sifers is set to make his NHL debut tonight against the Islanders. Get your No. 59 sweaters made up. Edit: Two NHL shifts, and already a plus-1. Kept the puck in at the right point to set up the goal.

Nice pop for Comeau in Newsday, meanwhile.

Was starting to wonder if I had been hearing things the night before Thanksgiving, but turns out it was true: The Islanders have added several stations to their radio network. That’s a good deal for some folks in Connecticut (me included): WNLK-AM 1350 and WSTC-AM 1400 in Fairfield County will carry Saturday-night games, and WLNG-FM 92.1 (Sag Harbor, N.Y.) will carry night games. WLNG, hyperlocal with reverb, carries pretty well across the Sound from the east until around Bridgeport, and then it does OK to the northeast. I pulled it in around Rockville one night coming home from Portland*. (Should I admit it’s my favorite radio station? Probably not.)

And finally, Hershey heard from Washington and… got Sami Lepisto back? What? They can send guys down without calling guys up?

(I still feel bad for Coco.)

*-April 9, 2006, T-minus 17 days? I have a memory of this. I have no idea if it’s real or received. Freaky.
