Stuff I meant to post earlier

Got tied up with some stuff, most recently the nascent MLB Network; thank you, Neil Best. It’s nice to see baseball as we batten down for this storm, and as they bring down the ol’ ballpark in Flushing (and that picture doesn’t even show the left-field side, which is gutted except for the upper deck). But…

Chatted with Jeremy Colliton on Thursday morning, because he fit well with both angles I wanted to take on the advance (which is, um, here). But at the end, tossed in a little question about how he evaluated himself so far. “I feel pretty good,” Colliton said. “Like I’ve said before, when the team does well, it makes a player like me look better.” He said he was reading something about Trevor Linden recently, as the Canucks retired his number, and how Linden would play his game, do all he could to play a team game, play consistently well. “They’d lose 2-1, and it’d be, like, ‘oh, well, you lost.’ They’d win, and it’d be, like, ‘oh, you played great.'” Not a bad little analogy. When he has been healthy, Colliton has done a pretty good job for this team in whatever role it hands him. Looks like he was instrumental in at least a couple of goals Sunday in Norfolk, too.

The team is indeed expecting to have Tambellini here Friday and Saturday. (It’s a long 14 days.)

Wolf Pack in the House: It was Valiquette vs. LaBarbera in Wednesday’s game in Los Angeles. Big Steve had the better night.

Don’t vote for Rory: He’ll be in Worcester for the All-Star Game, anyway, as will Bryan Helmer. (Reserved my cheap hotel tonight.) And as Hank noted, Toronto-Providence will be played at 1 Friday instead of 7 to dodge this promised snowstorm.

And finally, RIP, Dave Smith and Majel Barrett Roddenberry.
