Portland Liveblog: The Musical!

We’ll be in Portland tomorrow night, but for now, suffer through the Liveblog. (It won’t actually be a musical. Can’t write songs that fast. And that sentence is probably two words too long.)

Phil will be in Maine tomorrow night, too, so we’ll be listening to Quinnipiac product Greg Glynn. Portland appears not to have a separate audio link, so try AHLlive. That’s where we’ll try, too.

–The league announced five All-Star additions. Artem Anisimov is one. No Kurtis McLean, though there seems to be a few one-for-one replacements to keep the players-from-all-teams requirements.

–As was noted, this isn’t the first time the Islanders have sent guys down on paper for the break. Kind of a weird thing, but if they can do it, they’ll do it.

–Ouch: Kevin Dineen just said Tim Kennedy needs a bunch of dental work this week after taking a stick in the mouth. Ouch. Meanwhile, rookie sensation Nathan Gerbe, he wasn’t specific about Gerbe, but he’ll be out a while.

–Glynner’s asides come over the AHLlive feed, and one pointed out that it’s Nathan Lawson vs. Jhonas Enroth in goal.

–Scratches: Pitton, Callahan and Morency, in addition to the injured. (Is somebody missing there? They scratched one in Albany, then got three guys in… We’ll check.) (Stupid: Not if one’s a goalie. Urgh.)

Stats. Only Fritz listed with an ‘A’; Smith-McLean-Bentivoglio with Kohn-MacDonald.

–Linesmen: Libett, Lovett. Ref: Ryan Fraser.

–An apparent goal was disallowed with 6:38 to go, but it sounds like the Pirates are carrying the second half of the period here. Shots were 6-4 on the gamesheet at one point, and now they’re 9-4. Not like the Bucs are dominating, but…

–End of one, no score, no penalties. Shots finish 10-6.

–Pirates grab the lead just past midway through the second on a Mark Mancari PPG, snapping an 11-for-11 run for the penalty kill.

–End of two, Portland leads, 1-0. Bridgeport outshot them 11-3 in the period but didn’t score. The Pirates have a carryover power play.

–Freaky in Philly (with a hat tip to Chris Wassel): The Phantoms’ Garrett Klotz was taken off on a stretcher tonight after a fight off the opening draw. Scary stuff.

–Bridgeport kills off a five-on-three; the Sound Tigers are 9-for-10 overall on two-man disadvantages, including 5-for-6 when those have lasted more than 25 seconds.

–That’s it: PORTLAND 1, BRIDGEPORT 0. It’s the Sound Tigers’ first 1-0 loss since Nov. 24, 2006. One more score to watch.

–OK, the other score to watch (WBS vs. Hershey, obviously), now that I get to look at the box: Good golly. Chris Bourque with the interference major, leading to the tying goal? And how about the Janne Pesonen-Keith Aucoin fight? I’ve been listening to the wrong game. They’re on to the shootout.

–J.M. Daoust wins it in the final round; Wilkes-Barre/Scranton gets the win and moves into second place, all alone. The Sound Tigers dip to third. See you tomorrow.

–One more thing: Jack Capuano said Pitton was out with “a little upper-body injury.” Also, Colliton is definitely out for tomorrow. OK, now: See you tomorrow.
