Cutdown

So the Islanders have sent Greg Moore and Trevor Smith to the Sound Tigers while returning Calvin de Haan to Oshawa. That sets the defense up there, though it leaves 17 forwards, including the injured Weight, Nielsen and Reich. But that’s a question for down the road.

Down here, everyone except Mark Flood was on the ice again, in the same combinations as Tuesday, though Greg Mauldin was excused a little early. No early indication what would happen with the Bridgeport roster, which is at 15 forwards, 10 defensemen and three goalies. The goalies are supposed to stick around. With Morency suspended for Saturday and Mauldin on-and-off for three days, maybe there’s no rush to send a forward or two down. On defense, the dinged-up seem to all be practicing OK (except, obviously, for Flood, who hasn’t been out there yet), so we’ll see what happens there. Might know more this afternoon.

Tom Gulitti has the Devils’ reactions to Joel Rechlicz‘s adventures Tuesday night.

Elsewhere, Chris Bourque is off to Pittsburgh. Max Gratchev and Marc Rechlicz are with Elmira.

And Down Goes Brown’s Atlantic Division preview is typically solid, though his Philadelphia forecast is questionable. Aucoin and Giroux still get their fan mail at Giant Center.
