The no-longer-19-year-old defenseman

|

Anton Klementyev gets the call, as reported everywhere else at the morning skate. He’ll be the, what, fourth Islanders defenseman to make his NHL debut this year? Klementyev, Kohn, Flood, Reese. Forget anybody?

If you’re playing around with Clear Day lists and trying to figure out how far into the emergency Bridgeport is now, don’t forget that Klementyev doesn’t count. You’ve got Smith and DiBenedetto injured, and Bailey, Kohn, MacDonald, Reese and Flood on recall. Seven out means five in. (Gannon, Friesen, Motherwell, Morency, Bourbeau last night.)

On the bright side, Katie Strang reports Andrew MacDonald skated and could be ready to go Tuesday.

What is the deal with Rechlicz? With all the injuries and such, why hasn’t he played lately?
