Incumbent wins: Fake Team Awards VII

Hearty thanks for 18 votes, which I think is a record for this. Right on.

Fan Favorite went strongly to Micheal Haley, who became the first repeat winner of the award. We said last year how he had blossomed over the years from call-up to NHL regular. Unfortunately for him, he spent more time here this year than there (more than enough to make him an unrestricted free agent this summer). At least, I guess, you guys appreciated him.

There were tons of candidates for Seventh Player on this team, but a late charge in the voting gave it to Tony Romano. Two and a half years here had him languishing; in-and-out, inconsistent, injured at times. He went to the ECHL for a week. And since he’s been back, he’s got 23 points in the last 22 games and has done some fine things. His power-play goal on Friday at Providence was his first game-winner of the season, and only his second as a Sound Tiger*; it just happened to come in the game on the night they clinched the division title.

Kevin Poulin, meanwhile, clinched the Three Stars Award on Friday night with his second-star performance in Providence (at least, second star by the way they announced them in Providence. Let’s watch a replay). With one game to go, he had nine first-star picks, four second-stars and five third-stars. No other Sound Tiger was picked in more than 13 games; the runner-up was David Ullstrom at 6-4-3. Rhett Rakhshani was third at 3-4-3; Anders Nilsson was close behind.
