A Long Decade: May 18, 2002

Bridgeport has a chance to put the Bulldogs away… but it doesn’t. (What? I have no idea if this’ll become a trend.*) After Ray Schultz’s first goal of the season, regular or playoff, gives Bridgeport an early lead, Raffi Torres takes a roughing penalty that leads to Jani Rita’s power-play goal. Brian Swanson and Peter Sarno also score to pace Hamilton to a 3-2 win on this Saturday night at Copps Coliseum. Marc Lamothe bounces back with 32 saves. Absent for the Bulldogs: injured captain Alain Nasreddine. In fact, the next game he’ll play is in October, in Binghamton. He’ll play there as a Sound Tiger.

We’ll pass through Binghamton on the way home tomorrow. Game 6 is back in Bridgeport on May 20.

*-Ever since finishing the sweep in St. John’s, when Bridgeport has a chance to finish a best-of-7 series, it is 1-7. Counting all series, when it has a chance to wrap things up, Bridgeport is 4-8 after starting 4-3.
