‘I see it all now, it’s a plot’

All golf, all the time, but stuff I missed and you may’ve this weekend…

–The Islanders draft seven defensemen. Enfield’s Robbie Baillargeon to Ottawa; New Haven fans may be interested in the scout talking about him. The Rangers pick Calle Andersson; they will wait eight years for him to come over, then trade him for a conditional ninth, but only after he scores a… wait, that’s his… never mind.

–The Rangers traded a draft pick to Pittsburgh three years ago for the rights to Chad Johnson. The Penguins picked Andy Bathgate (grandson of the Hall of Famer) with that pick. They didn’t sign him. And today the Rangers said Bathgate is coming to their prospects camp. Fun with coincidence. Now the Pens have to sign Johnson. (Couple of locals on that Rangers list, Greenwich’s/Brunswick forward Luke Esposito and Darien’s/Choate’s Ben Foster.)

–The Isles’ kiddies assemble (the ones that haven’t already assembled, anyway) Monday, will be on the ice Tuesday and Wednesday, and have a scrimmage Thursday.

—Plan to try to assemble a list of non-tendered Group II free agents, like we always* do about this time. The tender deadline is Monday at 5. My recovery time from golf and car issues may affect this plan. In the meantime, Jonathan Bombulie has assembled a list of 450 AHL free agents. It’s a remarkable undertaking every year.

–I’m tempted to drive up to Ottawa.

–And RIP, Fernie Flaman (a testimonial), Richard Adler and musical charlatan*** Victor Spinetti.

***-I seem to have traded Simpsons references for A Hard Day’s Night references.
