Tennis notes/RIP, Jerry Nelson

A break from tennis to drop a bunch of notes that have been accumulating, the top one first noted in the middle of the night last night, when I woke up in a sweat that I’d gotten Sara Errani’s French Open final opponent wrong (didn’t; all clear; back to bed):

From Spokane, Brenden Kichton will reportedly at least come to camp here.

Scott Munroe goes back to the Phantoms.

Though inartfully phrased, the Vancouver Sun says there’s a rumor of the Canucks‘ looking into getting their farm team to Abbotsford. (Don’t expect that the Wolves themselves are moving.)

All the best to “Cul de Sac” creator Richard Thompson.

RIP, Don “Bones” Raleigh, William N. Wallace, Tony Scott, Phyllis Diller and Scott McKenzie, who, “San Francisco” aside, helped me get through long drives in Williamsport four years ago with the Journeymen.

And I have probably let slip too often my nostalgic love for old-time Sesame Street. That’s why it smacked me hard this morning to read from a friend on Facebook that Jerry Nelson has died. You surely know his voice — well, maybe not his, but his, nonetheless; the AV Club’s Erik Adams aptly calls him the soul of the Muppets. RIP.
