Headed upstate

Mostly the same group today as yesterday, including Nathan McIver; he’ll make the trip and see how he is in 24 hours. We’ll be liveblogging from the living room, so drop by. If you feel like actually getting out and watching hockey, there’s a New Year’s Eve doubleheader at Webster Bank Arena: Notre Dame-Fairfield vs. St. Joseph at noon, followed by Trumbull-Branford in a rematch of last year’s Division II final.

A belated prescout from Lewiston. Just a late five-on-three goal for the Phantoms, but a good night for Scott Munroe. Meanwhile, here’s what the Phantoms plan to wear tomorrow. Whites in back-to-back road games for Bridgeport, then.

The junior national team loses to Canada and Ryan Strome. (USA-Slovakia, 5 a.m. tonight/tomorrow, becomes in essence a playoff game.) Greg Mauldin and his Fribourg teammates lose in the Spengler Cup semifinals to… Canada. Tough day for American hockey.

Via @IslesEnforcers, Kael Mouillierat vs. Cory Conacher, and we ain’t talking faceoffs.

I forget who it was a few weeks ago who retweeted something from Mental Floss. I hate that person. I am getting nothing done.

And it’s Dec. 30. If you’d like to start refreshing your memory on useless esoterica from the second half of last season, it’d be a good time.
